Last night I baked Rachel Allen's Bakewell Cake. I saw her making it recently on her show Cake Diaries and knew that I would love it as it has. The Bakewell Tart consists of a pastry base filled with jam (often raspberry), frangipane (sweet almond paste), and flaked almonds. Slightly surprisingly then, this raspberry bakewell tart actually started life as my dad's invention.
